Gentech designs tilt switch for backhoes

JCB, one of the world’s top three manufacturers of construction equipment, needed to accurately position the loading arm of the Backhoe loader, to allow the safe detachment of the attachment or bucket. The switch needed to be robust enough to withstand heavy usage, vibration and shock that the backhoe is subjected to in its daily routine.

Customer requirements:

• Operating temperature -40° to +125°C
• Maximum switching Volts(VDC) 48 v
• Totally dust proof and proteted against low pressure water jets from all directions
• Copes with 3 plane vibration-

Solution:

• Switch designed to incorporate all requirements
• The reed switch and magnetic ball were incorporated into one housing
• The sensor operates when tilted at an angle over 20 degrees
