Distributor Focused | December 2007

Brian Russell of Gentech has been given specific responsibility for distributors throughout the UK and Scandinavia. The position recognises the important input that distributors make in supporting Gentech customers throughout.

With over 13 years working for Gentech there’s not too many technical issues that Brian hasn’t come across. As Gentech’s Sales and Technical Supervisor, Brian is able to provide the best advice and recommendation for a wide range of applications.

“I believe that well informed distributors are able to work more pro-actively with our customers by understanding their application issues and applying solutions. At Gentech we see our role, with distributors, as sharing information to ensure the customer always gets the best service and products to meet their requirements.”

There are currently 10 distributors in the UK and Scandinavia and a further 2 in Germany which benefit from the many enquiries received from users that regularly request information from their local distributor.

Marriott’s move on Europe | September 2007

Gentech is currently enjoying increased business levels and interest throughout Europe on its entire range of sensors. In particular from the automotive and truck and bus sectors as their design engineers strive to meet the stringent demands of Euro 4 / Euro 5 emission standards.

To make sure we maintain the high levels of support we’re known for, Janice Marriott joins the European Team as European Sales Manager. Janice is no newcomer to Gentech having been UK sales manager for the past four years.

A strong engineering background – Janice was a Rolls Royce technical apprentice and became a quality engineer – and a proactive approach to customer issues allows Janice to work with OEM design engineers to identify the most effective solutions to problems.

A key area for Janice and the Gentech Team is providing support for its extensive European distributor network. “Our distributors are very important to us – they ensure we make Gentech products readily available to all customers and in the volumes required. Continually improving our distributor partnerships will further enhance customer service,” commented Janice.

New MD for a new look Gentech | August 2007

Last month we reported a new look for Gentech and this month we can report that the new look has found its way to the Gentech board room. Angela Simkins joins Gentech International as its new Managing Director and we bid a fond ‘retirement’ farewell to Lawrence Jackson.

Angela brings a wealth of management experience to Gentech gained in operations, director and general management roles at engineering and electronics sector businesses. A strong background beginning life as a graduate engineering apprentice gave Angela the opportunity to understand manufacturing business from the ‘ground up’.

A Chartered Engineer with a Masters Degree in Lean Manufacturing, Angela has an open style of management and places a major importance on empowering the people of the business. Angela commented, “It’s become very clear to me, after only a short period of time running the business, that our greatest strength is our ability to produce such high quality work consistently. In addition the people of Gentech need to take credit for the company’s remarkable on-time delivery levels currently in excess of 96%.

“My vision is for Gentech is to be a global company with channels that allow customers to buy easily and locally. The important issue is that as we grow we will maintain Gentech’s ‘can do’ culture with people that will always go the ‘extra mile’ to help customers. “

Supporting Angela’s open style she welcomes any comments from customers and invites them to contact her via email

Look out for the 'G' Tab | July 2007

Customers will by now be getting used to the ‘new look’ Gentech styling - the ‘GTI’ logo has gone and a new ‘G Tab’ clearly identifies the company. The style update reflects the changes that have taken place at Gentech over the past three years to update facilities and operating procedures. The main Gentech logo gets de-cluttered with the removal of the word ‘switching’ and puts the emphasis onto ‘sensor solutions’ – a core message that reflects the custom solutions approach offered by Gentech.
